    I have a custom object with a TEXT field for a primary key named Foo. When I attempt to run the createCustomObjectRecord REST endpoint with the following settings I get “errorMessage”=>”Object data name is invalid.”

    customObjectRecord.customObjectRecordDataList.customObjectRecordData.name=Foo_c
    customObjectRecord.customObjectRecordDataList.customObjectRecordData.value=Kangaroo

    I also tried using:
    customObjectRecord.customObjectRecordDataList.customObjectRecordData.name=name
    and name_c

    Is it possible to write to the primary key field from the API if it is a TEXT field?

    Thanks for your help.

    It should be possible. Can you please provide a complete example of your request so we can troubleshoot?
